Anti-capitalistm, attogram a ...

... meniscus tear and if the pain wasn't tough enough I discovered last Thursday I am diabetic, the world does suck at times.

They sit outside Saint Paul's cathedral under banners that proclaim "Capitalism isn't working", their right to freedom of expression should not detract from their misunderstanding of commerce.  Capitalism is working well, it is the mechanism that delivers my shirt at a price I am willing to pay in sufficient quantities to satisfy demand.  Now if the camps proclaimed the markets as having flaws that can be rectified through the use of the law they would have a case, monopoly power supply in the UK is one such case, monopoly or oligopoly (the decisions of one firm influence, and are influenced by, the decisions of other firms, it raises prices and restrict production in much the same way as a monopoly).

Unfortunately the protesters add to their message "Capitalism isn't working" the words "another world is possible", no word on what exactly this other world might be.  Public opinion on the other hand is mixed, a majority tells the authorities to evict the protesters, another majority tells Saint Paul's it was wrong to close, yet another majority tells the world that they support the aims of the protesters.  Weird times .........

On farming subsidies, do we all, including the poor of Anglesey, subsidise the lamb roast of Carwyn Jones, or should Carwyn Jones pay the real price of Welsh lamb, such is the case of farming subsidies.

Still no news on when my torn meniscus is to be repaired, having put down my loss of weight these past months to the pain in my knee, I was quite devastated when our GP diagnosed me as being diabetic ..............

.............. attogram, the weight of a typical e-book downloaded to the Amazon Kindle, lighter than a print book.

Nuclear it is then, at ...

... Wylfa in Anglesey.
Charles Hendry, Minister of State for Energy said: “Around a quarter of the UK’s generating capacity is due to close by the end of this decade. We need to replace this with secure, low carbon, affordable energy. This will require over £100bn worth of investment in electricity generation alone.
The response from the Welsh Assembly Government and Welsh Assembly members as individuals will put a stamp of approval not just on how power should be generated, but on the future of the United Kingdom.  If the Welsh Assembly Government oppose the plans to be part of a UK wide electricity generation programme, to secure the future for our grandchildren, then the signal being sent is we want no part in the future of the UK;  Welsh Assembly members the same.

With the ability to generate power in response to demand is far preferable to the occasional wind blowing or unproven technology, technology yet to be developed;  why exactly did the Severn Barrage not get approval, it would have generated 6% of UK wide electricity needs, lets not worry to much politics has given us windmills to tilt.

I'm still looking for the love song, ...

... the politics of Wales I wrote about earlier, but there is little friendship or amity in the corridors of Power at the Assembly.

Looking across the world through the reportage of news-hounds and bloggers there is little friendship anywhere, in Libya the president is searching for his opponents, apparently to destroy them completely, because .................. they asked for democracy.

I read that in Syria police opened fire on demonstrators in Deraa, killing one and wounding several others, its president might like to reconsider his position, when people ask for freedoms that are basic rights elsewhere in the world it is probably to late, democratic change will be taken by the people not drip fed by a despotic ruler.

Other nation states are in similar positions, Yemen President Saleh is treading water in a most uncomfortable sea of change, he was even deserted by his ambassador to the United Nations in protest at the violence perpetrated by this second despot, he is responsible for 40 deaths murdered by his snipers last Friday.

What of the other countries of the middle east, Iran where a person may be hanged because he is gay, Bahrain who is using Saudi Arabia troops to subdue the pro-democracy movement, Saudi Arabia is another candidate country where people are held in captivity because of political allegiances.

Then in Morocco King Mohammed has yet to fulfil his promise of democratic reform and to end government corruption, whilst back in Wales .........

............ Carl Sargeant has suspended democracy ............

Saturday, 19 March 2011

Carl Sargeant and Colonel Gaddafi have similar ...

... attributes, both men suppress democracy, admittedly Sargeant is not directing fighter bombers to bomb the citizens of Anglesey as the butcher Gaddafi does in Libya, but the bottom line is our democracy has been suspended by the Sargeant in the Northern corner of our green and pleasant lands ...

... and when some say there is no comparison between the two men, remember that Gaddafi is doing to the people of Libya with weapons what Sergeant does to the people of Anglesey with the legislation, the only difference is the lack of blood in Wales.

Democracy in Anglesey is not a perfect activity, it is about people, through elected representatives exercising control over the matters which affect their interests, the sky hasn't fallen on the heads of people living in the Royal Borough of Beaumaris, the people of Moelfre are not marching through the streets demanding the removal of the local politicians, so until the sky falls Sargeant might like to remove his proboscis from democracy.

... better an imperfect democracy than a dictatorship.
