Breathtaking in its beauty and ambition ...

... the only way to describe the Olympic flame, the Olympic ceremony ...

... a celebration of everything British !

  1. I enjoyed the show, but it did strike me as very anglocentric. It would have been good to see an acknowledgement of the Welsh flag and Saltire. And too the other British language too i.e. the Welsh language (along with Scots and Irish Gaelic), all of which have been around ar longer than English. But yet again apart from a clip of kids singing Cwm Rhondda on a beach, we were invisible to the world. It was good but it could have been better.

  2. I wonder if there would be a difference if we were proactive and projected ourselves into British Culture, then, much as the Yorkshire cultural differences or as Bangladesh traditions might be considered part of the British culture ..........

.......... national projections of identity might not be quite so "anglocentric" ?

Going back to the opening ceremony ...

... the forging of the Olympic rings, was for me, Merthyr Tydfil of the 18th century !
